In this technology, the sedimentation area is important and the element that determines this is the plate apertures. Therefore, the sedimentation area of modules with fewer lamella apertures is wider. However, the requirements of the treatment process determine the module selection. In wastewater treatment, it is mandatory to use wide-aperture lamella modules, otherwise blockages may occur. In water treatment systems, narrow-aperture modules should be preferred.
