Lamella is used for the purpose of separating solids and floating materials from liquids. Generally, parts of 50 microns and larger are separated from water by spontaneous sedimentation, but for the separation of smaller parts from water, flocculent sedimentation methods are used with the addition of chemicals.

Thanks to Lamella technology, high efficiency is achieved by increasing the effective area. One of the most important advantages of this technology is that it allows reaching high capacities with low investment. It also offers an environmentally friendly solution.

In this technology, the sedimentation area is important and the element that determines this is the plate apertures. Therefore, the sedimentation area of ​​modules with fewer lamella apertures is wider. However, the requirements of the treatment process determine the module selection. In wastewater treatment, it is mandatory to use wide-aperture lamella modules, otherwise blockages may occur. In water treatment systems, narrow-aperture modules should be preferred.
